With a repeating arch pattern on the door faces and curved wingtips on the edges of the top, this credenza by American of Martinsville would not look out of place among the grand, forward-thinking edifices of Brasilia or other architectural cousins. The ruddy walnut breathes life and warmth into the piece as well.
Unusually but usefully composed storage is perhaps the highlight of this console. There are four separate cabinet sections, two smaller ones on the outside, with a larger interior space in the middle. The double-door bay has two drawers and shelf space below, while the other central bay has a shelf. A record divider is mounted in the leftmost space, while the rightmost has enough height for tall liquor or wine bottles, making this piece a perfect record cabinet / bar / media unit combo.
Underneath it all is a hidden tray drawer that at first glance looks like the trim of the leg base.
Exceptional build quality, with the right amount of heft to let you know it's been around for 60 years, and can easily do another 60.
In excellent condition, with minimal wear. The top has been restored by Niji to emphasize the natural character of the walnut.
