Truly a statement piece, with its imposing ridges and monolithic presence suggesting the influence of International Style and Brutalist architectural influence.
The front visage is kept uncluttered by hiding the tray drawers behind the double-doors. Vertical inlay strips on the doors that accent the perpendicular relationship with the longer drawers break up the monotony that can accompany a long piece that has similar geometries decorating it. Proportionally pleasant, the surprisingly bright and warm walnut helps keep a natural feel.
The massive cabinet doors swing out to expose very generous shelving space; we all know that no one collects china or commemorative plates these days, but that doesn't mean there isn't room to repurpose these cabinets. There's plenty of space on the shelves of this hutch to comfortably house your liquor collection; those scotch bottles are design objects in themselves and worth having on display! Perhaps you also still own books - even if they mostly exist to provide a vibrant color spectrum on our shelving - succulents and the occasional ceramic object that all would rather not be stashed in a box somewhere in your basement. So whether you decide to turn this into a large curio cabinet, bookcase, liquor cabinet/bar, or some combination thereof, there's plenty of space for your ideal arrangement!
Bottom piece has 5 drawers and two cabinet bays, making this piece a storage behemoth.
Restored by Niji to emphasize the natural character of the wood.
