American of Martinsville Walnut Display Shelf and Cabinet

This china cabinet is from American of Martinsville's classic furniture line whose pieces (often marked by the inlay "X"s on the top, caned doors, and asymmetrically recessed aluminum drawer pulls) have become iconic of the mid-century modern movement as a whole, combining lush natural wood with new materials while instituting Scandinavian visual sensibilities for minimalism and lightness.

One of our favorite design touches is one of the more subtle: the drawer faces are composed of walnut veneer laid in opposing directions, creating a "square-within-a-square" that is best demonstrated in the 4th photo.

Segmented attractively into an open shelf, closed shelves behind glass doors, cabinet space below, and a single drawer.

Whether you are looking for display space, a bookshelf, pantry, extra cabinet space, or - surprise - a china cabinet, this piece can ably fill all of those roles and tuck neatly into your home; it doesn't project further than 16" from your wall.

In excellent condition, with minimal wear and tear. There is a section on one of the glass panes that has a couple nicks.
