Sometimes you run across a piece in shambles, but you know with the proper amount of effort and care you can restore its lingering shadow of glory, or even make it a little better in the process. All of this lead-up is not in vain; we found this startling credenza by Kroehler with the legs in tatters. The walnut veneer was peeling off of the plywood, it was dinged up, scratched, dented beyond repair. The solution was to use the existing legs as templates to make some brand-new legs in the same shape, this time with solid walnut instead of veneered plywood! We would call this an up-cycling if that word didn't suggest we just gave it a new paint job. This is more like the Six Million Dollar man: stronger and better. The last two photos show the original legs, and the photos before that the new ones. Feel free to compare and let us know what you think!
The credenza body itself is a fabulous object, with a section of 4 drawers with turned walnut knobs and a cabinet bay whose doors are adorned by sculpted ringlets. A great piece for the living room as an entertainment console/record cabinet, or a buffet in the dining room. The legs allow for a light, floating feeling to make a room feel less heavy.
In very good condition, with some minor wear.
