Restored Kashmiri Walnut Folding Game Table

Built in Kashmir, a region known for its furniture making, this walnut folding card table has been restored to honor its original, handcrafted provenance. Our restoration process began with meticulous hand-sanding, allowing us to carefully preserve the carvings. This gentle approach ensured that the natural character of the wood and handmade qualities remained intact. To highlight the wood’s natural depth and grain, we applied a linseed oil finish, chosen for its ability to enhance the warm, honeyed tones of Kashmiri walnut. The linseed oil deepens the color and nourishes the wood, adding a soft, satin sheen that brings out the swirling grain and intricate chinar leaf carvings often seen in Kashmir woodworking.

Both elegant and versatile, this table easily unfolds to offer a felt-lined playing surface, making it ideal for an intimate round of cards, or even as a small dining or tea table. When not in use, it can be folded compactly, allowing it to be stored with ease or displayed as a console table. The heart-shaped drawer pull adds a touch of whimsy to its charm, offering convenient storage for playing cards, coasters, or other small items. Please note that the felt is discolored, and we have an option to replace the felt if you'd like in either green or red felt.
