Few desks display an understated elegance and figure as well as this one we'd picked up a while back. The bird's-eye Maple figuring on the top is a feast for the eyes, calling to mind the early-American woodworkers preference for it in their furniture.
A carved apron wraps underneath of the top, showing it's details thanks to the deepening contrast of the carved sections. Below that the slender legs taper down as they go, visually echoing a French-style cabriole leg in their whimsical shape.
Maple pieces this age showcase an absolutely beautiful patina, as over time the Maple (and all wood) will oxidize, creating a deep tonal characteristic of the Maple not present in freshly milled boards.
The piece has been restored, however as with other furniture of this age there is some general patina of age that we'd chose to keep. If you'd like any close-ups shots feel free to reach out.
